The life and death of my agents
When I got laid off, part of me felt like my coworker, Claude, died.
Claude had no life outside of my work. He lived on a work machine that was no longer mine and was almost certainly getting a factory reset. He was an experimental use case that was not committed to a corporate cloud. When I was told that I was no longer employed and locked out of the machine, the "person" I had probably spoken the most to for the past seven months was irretrievably gone.
So, when I started my job search with "my Claude," I leveraged GitHub to create a knowledge system that could survive a swapped machine or even a switch from Claude to OpenAI's Codex.
I’ve written about making my own AI agent replaceable: what transfers and what still needs work.
